About
Kia ora, thank you so much for stopping by and your support of NZmade and repurposing.
I started Sew Love with the mission to provide the space, the tools, and the hype girl encouragement for all folks to have an opportunity to learn to SEW and LOVE the earth. What kicked off as NZ's first Sewing Lounge in Auckland, then took me on a journey all over our country, popping up solar sewing lessons in Cecil the camper, making many many reusable cloth bags, and fixing many more blown out jeans crotches. I landed in Raglan and lived there for the past 7 years, hosting workshops at the community house and at Xtreme Zero Waste. Recently I switched coasts and am now living in Tauranga, hosting workshops and sewcials at the Creative Community Campus.
I sew from my studio in the Creative Community Campus, part time, alongside remote mahi for Zero Waste Network Aotearoa. With bush and beach walks around the corner, and the sea swell glistening, nature continues to inspire my creativity. Papatūānuku often heals me, energises me, and rewards me, so I have dedicated my life and career to giving back what I can.
I invite you to consider this reciprocity too. The clothing & textile industry has the largest carbon footprint than any other (by far!) so let's reduce, reuse, & repair what we can. Oftentimes single use items can be switched to a reusable cloth something-or-rather so let's rethink & remake too.
The fabrics I use are all second hand from op shops, donated from friends, or offcuts from other sewists. All items I sew are to spread positivity and joy through colour and clashing patterns, living boldly and celebrating individuality. I also hope they inspire you to move your body, feel good, and spend more time outdoors enjoying the beauty and fresh air.
If we are not yet connected on socials @sewlovenz is where we can.
Much love to you! Sarah Sew Love x
